My name is Kyla Munro, I'm a Scottish/ Bahraini Dancer who lives in the UAE. I began my journey in dance within the competition scene here in the Middle East in the styles of Hip Hop and Commercial. Competing in circuits such as UDO and Encore, I was part of the first Arab based teams to compete and win in these venues. While training, I was coached by world-class dancers and choreographers such as Nader Masharbush, Gemma Hoddy and Rebecca Miller. After competing for years and earning titles in the Middle East, Britain and Worlds, I decided to enhance and widen my range of styles by applying to Sharjah Performing Arts Academy (SPAA) allowing me to train in styles such as Jazz, Contemporary, Ballet and Tap. In addition , I also have skills in Heels, Acro and Basic Aerial Silks.

My training at SPAA has reinforced the importance of a well-trained, well-rounded performer in this developing industry. As SPAA strives to break through the stigma against the entertainment career path in the Mena Region, the team is also eager to introduce the old classical ways into a contemporary modernised legacy.
I have had the opportunity to perform original works by Lisa Rowley, Alex Jessop and Lana Fahmi with the added pleasure of being exposed to some of the giants in the industry from Jean Laurent Sasportes of Pina Baush's original cast to Jaquel Knight, the choreographer of Beyonce's 'Single Ladies'. Through my training I can confidently say that I've had both understanding and connections in the variety of all the genres within dance
